Christian Education at Mandurah Baptist College

Christian Education at Mandurah Baptist College

As 2023 begins, we welcome prospective Year 7 students to begin their journey with the College’s Christian Education program, and for the Year 12s we prepare for them to reach the culmination of its end.

From Lower School to Upper School, the program has been built on four central pillars of Christian Identity: Texts, Beliefs, Values & Worship. Within this framework, ‘Texts’ refers to the central sources of wisdom that Christianity has recognised with authority; namely the inherent truth of the Bible, but also the wealth of historical commentary that help unpack its wisdom. In our Christian Education classrooms our students engage directly with scripture and are coached on helpful strategies for interpreting its meaning. The ‘Beliefs’ focus of our program explores how the Christian faith is unpacked from God’s Word and forms coherent and cohesive ways of understanding Himself, ourselves, and the world around us. Underpinning this, the ‘Values’ pillar of the Christian Education framework is a crucial way of reinforcing the College’s core values of faith, growth, relationships, excellence, and integrity, by exploring how these principal aspects of our College ethos are at the heart of the Gospel. Finally, the ‘Worship’ pillar prompts our students to engage with tangible ways to express their beliefs and values in service of God’s purpose for their lives and for the benefit of others. We worship through action and response to God in a variety of ways as Christian people; in our classes students are encouraged to take opportunities to share what they know in ways that bless others and bring glory to God.

This year, every student will take steps on this journey with their Christian Education teachers, each of them moving forward on the way toward deeper understanding. Please pray for our staff and students as they embark on this journey once again this year.
